I am due to go to Nepal in November on the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. It will be my first ever holiday in Asia. For the past 3 weeks I have become nervous about going; and if I hadn't paid so much I would probably pull out. Its nerves about going alone, nerves about leaving the dog, nerves about being fit enough, nerves about getting ill. I am a fairly well travelled person, but as I get older I tend to like my comfort more. I know once I am out there I will love it. I just need to give myself a kick in the pants.

Dear Paddington You certainly won't be the first person ever to have pre-departure nerves. Its a big step going to the Himalaya for the first time, but we can promise you an experience of a lifetime and we predict that you will not want to come home at the end of it (except to see your dog). Although you may be joining the group on your own, you will not really be alone. Something like 50% of KE clients sign up as individuals and most of them come home with a new set of real friends! As long as you are in good health you need not worry about getting ill and if you follow our simple recommendations for preparing for your trip you are unlikely to have any issues with your fitness either. It's normal to be nervous but don't let this spoil the anticipatory excitement of those new horizons. Do give us a buzz if you want to talk to us about this and the group that you are travelling with. Enjoy. The KE Adventure Team

Your blog could have been me- twice!!! Annapurna is awesome and it is worth every single moment to be there. I know the feeling so well setting off alone and all the worries about stuff you've mentioned. It's worth being fit and it's likely to feel a little queasy but it passes and actually all part of it. I have made some lovely friends on a KE trek and I cannot encourage you enough to remember what it was that got you booking the holiday because that will be the reality. It is beautiful. If the photo I've attached comes up, that is what you'll see when you get off the plane in Pokara. You know the thing about getting older? We just have to grab the opportunities! Now you go, have an amazing time and post about it when you get back!
